plug-and-play system

In the baseline configuration the SHIPS plug-and-play system

  • requires a free and static IP address (part of an internet subnet subscription) with sufficient upload (preferably fiberglass with 1G up / down)
  • consists of a strictly stand alone (sand-boxed) server directly connected (eth) to the internet (router) via the fixed IP address and internet accessible (SMTP HTTPS SSH …)
  • involves but a short and highly concise technology assessment and security appraisal

The SHIPS plug-and-play system is particularly suited for parties choosing to “make” rather than to “buy” internet provider services. Moreover, the system can operate in almost total isolation (separation) form the other ICT infrastructure, services and usage, thus minimizing any impacting of cloud computing and virtualization technologies on the organization (in terms of technology assessment and security appraisal).
